Floyd Mortuary, Inc., Lumberton, NC
Billie Surles Britt Hardin, age 78, of Lumberton, NC died on Tuesday,
May 31, 2016 at Autumn Care of Raeford.  She was born in Robeson
County, NC on August 18, 1937 to the late William Surles and late
Edith Lassiter Surles.  She previously worked as the office manager
for Cardinal Health Agency.  She was the first female County
Commissioner of Robeson County and was a former Chairperson for the
County Commissioners.  She was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church
and also served as a Sunday School teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Billy Q.
Britt; husband, William G. Hardin; and a sister, Janice Snipes.

Mrs. Hardin is survived by a brother, Jerrol Surles (Elois) of
Lumberton; and sisters, Denise Iturra (Alex) of Lumberton, Mary Gwyn
(Lathan) of Sanford, and Brenda Davis of Sunset Harbor.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 1:00 PM
at Gardens of Faith Mausoleum.  A time of visitation will follow at
the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to be made to the
Alzheimer Association, at www.alz.org.
