Wilma Britt, 14, of Mt. Avenor Britt, died at her home near Fairmont Sunday at 2:30 p.m. after an illness of a few weeks from pneumonia and complications. She was a loveable character. To know her was to love her. She bore her suffering without complaint and showed love and kindness for all who attended her. She was like a flower that came to earth to dwell only for a few days. She was a member of the 7th grade of Fairmont High School. Funeral services were conducted from the home at 2 p.m. Monday by Rev. E.A. Paul of East Lumberton. “Safe in the Arms of Jesus” and “Sometimes We’ll Understand” were sung at the house, and at her request “Shall We Gather at the River” was sung by members of the 7th grade of F.H.S. At the grave, “Asleep in Jesus” and “Does Jesus Care.” Interment was made in the family cemetery near the home. The flowers were carried by her classmates and were many and beautiful, her grade and 3rd giving wreaths. She leaves her father, who is very sick in a Lumberton hospital, 8 brothers, an aged grandmother, who is a cripple, and a number of other relatives.
