Robeson County, NC - Obituary of Mr. and Mrs. Gaston Britt, 1922 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HUSBAND AND WIFE DIED SAME NIGHT OF FLU-PNEUMONIA. Mr. and Mrs. Gaston Britt of Long Branch Section Die Within Two Hours of Each Other----Five Small Children Survive----Four Deaths From Influenza in Long Branch Section During Past Week. Mr. and Mrs. Gaston Britt, both died Monday night at their home near Long Branch church, of pneumonia, following influenza. There was only about 2 hours difference in the time of their death. Mr. Britt was about 55 years old, while his wife was about 45. Five small children survive and two of these are ill with influenza. They were brought to the Thompson hospital Tuesday by Mr. J. L. Stephens of Lumberton. Both the husband and wife were buried in the same grave in the Rice cemetery Tuesday at 4 p.m. Four deaths resulting from influenza have occurred in that immediate section during the last week. From the Contributor: Gaston Britt was born in 1866 and his wife Lillie Grimsley was born Aug 2, 1878. They both died on Dec 11, 1922. Gaston was the son of Goodman Britt and Mary Ann Hillard. Lillie was the daughter of Lewis Grimsley and Helen Walters.
