R. Carter. Reported for The Robesonian: On the morning of March 10th the angel of death visited this beautiful green earth and took from us Brother R. R. Carter. He had been sick several months, and death was not unexpected; but it was indeed a great shock to all his relatives and friends. Brother Carter was about 84 years of age and was loved by all who knew him. In his early manhood he made his confession and became a member of Back Swamp Baptist church. Of that church he was a consistent member, until the organization of the First Baptist church of Pembroke, of which church he was on of the first charter members. He remained a consistent member until his death. Deceased was survived by three sisters, four sons and four daughters. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Mr. Prevatte, who had been a pastor for deceased for 17 years in succession, and was therefore well acquainted with deceased, and gave startling facts and good evidence of his Christian life. The pastor had great confidence in the life of the deceased and therefore had grounds on which to, and did, preach a most wonderful sermon to the large audience who paid their due respect to the departed. In this great human sorrow there sweetly comes one happy thought, that we will meet again, not in this vale of tears, but where no sadness ever comes. One Who Loved Him.
