MRS. AGNES T. CHAVIS 

PEMBROKE – Mrs. Agnes T. Chavis, 84, wife of Rev. Z.R. Chavis of Pembroke, 
died in Southeastern General Hospital Friday morning. The funeral will be 
conducted Tuesday at 3P.M. in Bear Swamp Baptist church with Rev. T.M. Swett 
officiating. Burial will be  in the church cemetery. The body will be at the 
church for an hour prior to the service.

She is survived by her husband; six sons, James E., Harvard and U.P. Chavis of 
Pembroke, Cloyd Chavis of Vass, Z.R. Chavis of Crestview, Fla., and Anley P. 
Chavis of Tampa; two foster sons, Clayton Clark of Fairmont and Whiteford 
Clark of Pembroke; three daughters, Mrs. Carlie Jacobs and Mrs. Woodrow Dial 
of Pembroke, and Mrs. Edith Brown of Delmar, N.J., a brother, John F. Locklear 
of Linden; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Jacobs of Fayetteville; 81 grandchildren, 
59 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
