Murder in Robeson County.
 
   Mr. Sim Conoley, a leading citizen of
Robeson county, was murdered on the
evening of the 21st inst. within a short
distance of his home – the victim of a sin-
gularly cold-blooded assassination.  At his
gate he was asked by a stranger to show
him the way to the house of some one in
the neighborhood, in response to which re-
quest he led the stranger through the
thicket by a short path.  Mr. Conoley was
seen no more until the next day, when his
body was found lying across the path in
the woods.
   It is said that a strange man with long
hair, wearing glasses, was seen in the
neighborhood a short time before, to
whom suspicion has been directed; and it
is also stated that an arrest will shortly
follow, as the authorities know the man,
who committed the murder to avenge the
wrongs of some one else.
