C., on the 10th day of December, 1859, Mrs. C. Crump, wife of Mr. Solomon Crump, in the thirtieth year of her age. The subject of this notice embraced religion at an early age, and was baptized into the fellowship of the church at Antioch in Robeson county, by Elder William Ayres. She continued a consistent and exemplary member up to the time of her final dissolution with earthly things. In all the relations of life, her conduct was such as to inspire confidence and draw strong ties of the most peculiar regard by those who were best acquainted with her. From youth she had been of delicate health, and for several months past had endured much affliction which she bore with becoming Christian fortitude. But from this she seemed to have partially recovered until Sabbath afternoon before her death, she was suddenly seized with disease, principally of the lungs, that in less than 6 days terminated her existence. She seemed to be perfectly conscious of her approaching end, and frequently said she should not survive, and when asked as to willingness to leave, her reply was, “the Lord’s will must be done,” and gave the strongest assurance to her fiends of her acceptance with her Maker. Some 2 or 3 days before her death, she said, “I shall soon be with my little Babes,” (alluding to two of her children who had died in infancy.) On the morning just before she breathed her last, she requested her Father to pray with and for her; after which she remained quite composed and resigned to the last. A little before her final departure, she attempted to sing, but was too feeble to proceed. COM. Additional Comments: Daughter of Benjamin Freeman and Anna Eliza Todd Freeman, wife of Solomon Crump.
