Robeson County, NC - Obituary of Thomas Collins, 1941 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Funeral Rites Held For Broad Ridge Man Lumberton, R. 2. Oct. 21.---- Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Collins, 63, of the Broad Ridge section, were held at Broad Ridge Church yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Mr. Collins died at 1 o'clock Sunday morning. Officiating at the services was the pastor, Rev. C.B. Horne. Burial was at a nearby cemetery. Mr. Collins, a widely known and respected farmer of this section, had been in poor health for some time, but had not been confined to bed. He had retired Sunday night but apparently becoming ill, attempted to arise from bed and fell unconscious. He died without ever regaining consciousness. Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Dora Collins; two sons--Quincy and James, both of near Lumberton; and two daughters--Mrs. Bertrand Nance and Mrs. Glenn Ivey, of Broad Ridge. From the Contributor: Thomas D. Collins was born Oct 3, 1878 and died Oct 20, 1941. He married Dora Collins Oct 6, 1907. Thomas D. was the son of Gregory Richard Collins born Jul 1845 and Crissey Frances Stone born Mar 1850. His wife Dora Collins parents were Franklin Pierce Collins born Dec 1, 1859 died Jul 25, 1903 and Emmaline Lamb born Aug 29, 1861 died Sep 3, 1936. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
