Mr. Eppes, connected with Whitehead and Anderson Tobacco Company and well known and respected by his colleagues suffered a fatal heart attack at the home of Mrs. Clem Thompson on West 17th street which he had rented for the tobacco marketing season. His wife was with him. Prayers this morning were by Dr. R. F. Sloop, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Funeral rites are being conducted in Henderson, where he made his home, this afternoon at three o’clock at Holy Innocents Episcopal church. Rev. J. C. Smyth, rector of the Church of the Good Shepherd is officiating. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Helen Eppes, two sons, C.H. Eppes, Jr., of Wake Forest and George P. Eppes of Long Beach, Calif., a daughter, Mrs. C. Foster Jennings of Richmond, Va.: two grandchildren; one sister, Miss Nancy Eppes, of Rocky Mount; and one brother, Victor M. Eppes, of Hopewell, Va.
