Funeral Rites At
   Rowland Today For
      Mr. W. J. Faircloth
 
One of Town’s Most Prominent
Citizens Passes at Age of 89.

   Rowland, Aug. 25.-Funeral ser-
vices were conducted from Ashpole
Presbyterian church, of which he
was a member, at 11 a. m. today
by Rev. J. M. Lemmon, pastor, as-
sisted by Rev. L. A. McLaurin,
pastor of Rowland Presbyterian
church, for Mr. W. J. Faircloth,
one of the oldest and most popu-
lar citizens of the town, who died
at his home here early Wednesday
morning.  Mr. Faircloth had been
in poor health for several months
and had been in bed for a year
and a half.  Had he lived until Oct-
ober, he would have been 90 years
old.
   Surviving are 4 daughters and 2
sons:  Mrs. David Walters, Miss
Kate, Messrs. John A. and David
F. Faircloth of Rowland; Mrs.
Troy West, Burlington; Mrs. W. R.
Britt, Conway, S. C.


Additional Comments:
William James Faircloth, born 1842 at Little River, [Horry Co] SC, died August 
24, 1932 at Rowland, Rowland Township, Robeson Co NC.  He was a son of Jno. Alvin 
Faircloth, his mother a Pearce, both of SC.  Widowed, husband of Mariah Wade 
Faircloth.  Buried at Ashpole.
