Friday, March 10, 1944 RITES FOR MRS. HENLEY Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Reynolds Henley, mention of whose death was in Thursday’s Robesonian, were held at the home of her son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. F.F. Purvis, Thursday at 3:30 p.m. by her pastor, Dr. Clifton J. Allen of the First Baptist church, and her son’s pastor, Rev. George E. Smith of Cheraw Baptist church. After the latter had read the Scripture passage Dr. Allen spoke on A Christian’s Life. Mrs. Henley had been a devoted member of the Baptist church since coming to Fairmont. Interment was in the New cemetery by her husband, who died ten years ago. As the many lovely flowers were placed on the grave the choir sang “The Christians Goodnight”, the choir, composed of Miss Dinabel Floyd, Mrs. S.E. Fenegan, Mrs. P.H. Thompson, Mrs. James A. Galloway, Mrs. Mayme K. Pittman, Mrs. C.A. Thompson, Mrs. Ross Baker; Messrs. P.P. Smith, S.E. Fennegan, sang at the house, “Nearer, My God to Thee” and “Rock of Ages”. She was born in Troy 78 years ago this past march. At the age of 17 she married Mr. Henley, also of Troy, and they moved to Marlboro county, S.C., and lived until they moved to Marietta, Robeson county, in 1905, and after living in Proctorville for a short while they moved to Fairmont 12 years ago. Surviving are 8 children: C.F. of Cheraw. S.C., W.H. of Spencer, L. Henley of Fairmont; Mrs. F.F. Purvis, Mrs. D.C. Ratley and Mrs. J.B. Inman of Fairmont, Mrs. T.C. Parham of Marietta; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Carey Henley, Mr. Henley having died 2 years ago; and 24 grandchildren. One brother, Mr. J.K. Reynolds, who has made his home since last fall with Mr. and Mrs. Purvis.
