Mrs. Mary Herring

Mrs. Mary Collins Herring, 64, widow of Floyd Herring of the Smyrna Baptist 
Church section, Lumberton, Rt., died Saturday night at 11 o'clock in a 
hospital in Chapel Hill, where she had been a patient for two weeks.  She has 
not been well for some time.   

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3 PM from the Smyrna Baptist Church 
with the pastor E.L. Coleman in charge.  Assisting will be Rev Frank Stegall.  
Burial will be in the family cemetery near Fairmont.  The body will remain at 
Stephens Funeral Home here until an hour before the funeral when it will be 
carried to the church.

Surviving are one son and one daughter, Edman R. Herring of Roxboro, and Mrs. 
Tessie Hayes of the home; one grandchild; two brothers, J.C. Collins of 
Lumberton, and J.H. Collins of Lumberton, Rt 3; one half-brother, Hardy 
Collins, and four half sisters, Mrs. Lillie Davis and Mrs. Alice Capps of 
Proctorville, Mrs. Annie Carter of Bladenboro, and Mrs. Carolyn Floyd of 
Marion, SC.


Additional Comments:
Mary Elizabeth Collins was the wife of Floyd Herring and daughter of Loderick 
Tanner Collins and Iley Byrd. Siblings included William Archibald Collins, 
John Henry Collins, James Clarence Collins, Fannie Collins (Johnson), and 
Emily Collins Prevatte.
