Monday, April 24, 1922 Mr. S.A. Humphrey, Well-Known Citizen, Died Saturday at Home Near Orrum – Funeral Yesterday at Big Branch Attended by Large Crowd Mr. S.A. Humphrey, well-known citizen, died Saturday afternoon at his home near Orrum, following illness of several months. The funeral was conducted from Big Branch Baptist church yesterday at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. I.P. Hedgpeth, pastor of deceased, assisted by Rev. W.H. Dodd, pastor of the Proctorville Baptist church and field. A large crowd attended the funeral and the grave was covered with beautiful floral designs. Deceased is survived by several children. Mr. Humphrey was a good man, an active church worker, having been a deacon of Big Branch Baptist church for many years, and will be missed in his community. He also took an active interest in the educational development of his own community and the county at large.
