Robeson County, NC - Obituary of Kelly Johnson, 1935 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rites Held For Kelly Johnson Prominent Barnesville Man Succumbs Here After Extended Illness. Funeral services for Kelly Johnson, 72, prominent citizen of lower Robeson county, were conducted from Bethesda Methodist church, of which he was a member, Sunday at 3 p.m. by Rev. N.B. Johnson of Tabor, former pastor, with interment in the church cemetery. Mr. Johnson died in Baker sanatorium, Lumberton, Saturday about 3 a.m. after a long Illness. He had been a patient there since the summer. He had cancer. Pallbearers were R.W. Britt, W.N. Hardin, J. H. Johnson, C.A. Sealey, Perry Leggett, H.C. Flowers. The church missionary society had charge of the flowers, being assisted by Mesdames C.E. Herring and William Britt. Surviving are his widow; 8 children---Ed Olin of Barnesville, Smith of Reidsville, Kelly Jr. and Miss Eva of Fairmont, Ashley of Fayetteville, Mrs. Ola J. Barnes of Andrews, Miss Alma of Albemarle, Mrs. L.S. Thompson of Cedartown, Ga. Deceased, a substantial farmer, was a long and faithful member of Bethesda Church. From the Contributor: Kelly Johnson was born July 20, 1863 and died Dec 29, 1935. He married Nemphia Mae Floyd Oct 29, 1891. Nemphia Mae Floyd was born Jan 22, 1879 and died Nov 7, 1956. Kelly Johnson was the son of Cary Johnson and Mary Jane Sealey.
