The Robesonian, September 3, 1976
FAIRMONT – Joseph Maynard Kennedy, 50, of Rt. 3, Fairmont, died Thursday 
night. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. from the Centerville 
Baptist Church, with the Rev. W.L. Chapel officiating. Burial will follow at 
the New Hollywood Cemetery.  

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Gertie Britt Kennedy; two sons, James 
Michael Kennedy. of the home and Joseph Maynard Kennedy, Jr. of High Point; 
one brother Hubert Kennedy of High Point; six sisters, Mrs. Melvin McBryde of 
Myrtle Beach, Mrs. James Gray and  Mrs. Edith Collins of Greensboro, Mrs. Wade 
Lanier and Mrs. Verda Lee Welbourn, both of Denton, and Mrs. Wanda Kenny of 
High Point. 

The family will be at the home of Clifton Sutton, Rt. 6, of Lumberton. Tonight 
they will receive friends from 7-9 at Prevatte Funeral Home in Fairmont.
