Ed Lewis Rites

Ed Lewis, about 70, died at his home in Raft Swamp Thursday at 1:50 am of 
stomach cancer. He had been ill for several months having recently returned 
from Duke Hospital, where he spent a few weeks.

Funeral services were held today at 11 am from Raft Swamp Baptist church, of 
which he was a member, and interment was made in the church cemetery beside 
his first wife Miss Mary Tyner, and who died about 2 years ago.

Surviving are his widow, the former Miss Lucy Davis, and the following 
children by his first marriage; Mrs L. B. Tyner, Jack and Jerry Townsend, 
Junie Murphy and Morrison Lewis all of Route 4 Raft Swamp section 
He is also survived by serveral grandchildren.

Ed Lewis was born Dec 18, 1866 and died Oct 22, 1937, he was the son of Robert 
Lewis and Caroline Wilton Lewis. He married 1st Mary Alice Tyner and 2nd Lucy 
Davis.
