Mrs. Margaret Catherine Lewis, 72 years old, died Monday at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Neill Smith, six miles from the home of the deceased on rural route No. 3 from Lumberton, where she went two weeks before her death on a visit. Shortly after arriving at their home she became ill with pneumonia. The remains were interred in the family cemetery near the residence Tuesday in the presence of a great throng of sorrowing relatives and friends. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. R. A. Hedgpeth, of Barnesville, assisted by Rev. J. M. Fleming, pastor of East Lumberton Baptist church. Mrs. Lewis was an excellent Christian woman, a member of the Centerville Baptist church, and was held in high esteem by all who knew her. She was a Miss Nance, of Bladen county, and on March 11, 1869 she was married to Mr. D. F. Lewis. Of this union ten children were born, five of whom survive. Additional Comments: Margaret Catherine Nance was a daughter of Capt. Daniel Mullington Nance and wife Catharine Munn Nance of Nance's Mill Pond in western Bladen Co NC. She was married to D. F.
