Robesonian, Thursday October 27, 1921
 “Mrs. J. B. Lewis, Near Fairmont
Mrs. J. B. Lewis,  aged  about   80
years, died Monday at her home severn
miles   south   of   Fairmont   of   the  in-
firmities  of  old  age.    Deceased  is sur-
vived  by  several  children.   The funer-
al  was  conducted  Tuesday  at   3 p. m.
by   Rev.  D.  C.  Barnes  and interment
was made in the family cemetery.”
 
Note:  John B. Lewis of Gaddy Township in lower Robeson Co NC was married to Ila 
Bass, a daughter of Frederick Bass of Robeson Co NC.  John B. Lewis died in 1906, 
and his widow Ila Bass Lewis died in 1921 [death notice above].  Both were buried 
in the Lewis Family Cemetery in the White Pond Community, along with other 
members of the Lewis family.  Since that time, and according to descendants, this 
cemetery has been destroyed.
