Robeson County, NC - Obituary of A. W. Leggett, 1945 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rites Held Sunday For A. W. Leggett Fairmont------Funeral services for Arthur W. Leggette, about 70, well-known retired farmer of the Bethesda section near Fairmont, who died Saturday at 9:30 a.m. after an illness of several years, were held Sunday at 5 p.m. from the home, and interment was made in the family cemetery, He had been confined to bed for about a year. Services were conducted by Rev. E. C. Lockamy, pastor of Barnesville Baptist church of which he was a member, assisted by Rev. Ben F. Boone, Methodist minister of Fairmont, and Rev. I P. Hedgpeth Baptist minister of Lumberton. Pallbearers were Walters Lewis, William Britt, Zimp Leggette, Horace Walters, Worth Lewis, Wilbur Leggette. The many beautiful floral offerings were in charge of Mrs. William Britt and Mrs. Zimp Leggette. A mixed choir rendered 3 numbers. Mr. Leggette was the last member of his family, and leaves no sons and daughters. Surviving are he wife, Mrs Smithie Floyd Leggette, and several nephews and nieces. From the contributor: Arthur W. Leggette was born Mar 21, 1875 and died Jun 2, 1945. He was the son of Robert Leggette born Sep 14, 1836 died Mar 24, 1908 and Mary Elizabeth Lewis born Feb 28, 1858 and died Feb 22, 1918. Arthur W.
