Robeson County, NC - Obituary of E. Tom Lewis ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ E. Tom Lewis BARNESVILLE __ E. Tom Lewis, 75 died this morning at about seven o'clock. He was found dead in his bed by Mrs Lewis at eight o'clock, the victim of a heart attack. Mr Lewis had suffered a previous attack in 1951 but had remained active. One of his community's most prominent citizens, Mr Lewis was a farmer and a former member of the local school board. He had served as foreman of the Robeson County Grand Jury on several occasions, the last about two years ago. Son of the late Mr and Mrs Dawes Lewis, he had spent his entire life in Robeson. Funeral Arrangements had not been announced at a late hour today. Mr Lewis was first married to Mrs Nora Walters of Barnesville and five children survive from that marriage. After her death, he married Mis Ora Pittman of Lumberton, and after her death was married to Mrs Ludie Williams of Conway, SC who survives. Surviving children are his son, Police Chief Bill Lewis of Fairmont; four daughters, Mrs J L (Eunice) McCammon of Knoxville, Tenn., and Misses Lavelle, Vaughtie and Gladys Lewis, all of the home.
