Robeson County, NC - Obituary of Warren Arris Lewis, 1924 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Death of Warren Lewis Confederate Veteran Passes At Home Near Fairmont Fairmont, Feb 5----Late Friday night at his home near Fairmont, Mr. Warren Lewis died after an illness of only a week. Mr. Lewis had been in failing health for some time and his death was not unexpected. He was a confederate veteran, about 77 years old. He leaves a widow, a large family of children and grandchildren to mourn their loss, besides several brothers, sisters, and a host of friends, who did all in their power to alleviate his suffering. Mr. Lewis was never pretentious. As you scan him one time, he was always. The remains were buried Sunday morning in the Fairmont cemetery, after a funeral service at the Baptist Church by his pastor, Rev. J. R. Miller. From the Contributor: Warren Arris Lewis was born Nov 14, 1841 in Robeson County and died Feb 1, 1918 in Robeson County. He was the son of Dawson Lewis and Annie Eliza Jenkins.
