Robeson County, NC - Obituary of D.F. Lewis, 1910 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mr. D.F. Lewis, of Rural Route No.3 From Lumberton. Mr. D. F. Lewis, of Rural Route No. 3 From Lumberton, his home being 6 miles from Lumberton on the road to Fairmont, died Monday night at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Prevatt, near his own home. He had been afflicted for the past six months with dropsy of the heart and had been confined to his bed for some time. The remains were interred Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Lewis graveyard near the home, services being conducted by Mr. Caswell Dean in the absence of a minister. The deceased would have been 67 years old next month and was a deacon of Centerville Baptist church. His wife died last January. He is survived by one son, Mr. Jno. From the contributor: Datus Frank Lewis was born Jan 18, 1845 and died Dec 12, 1910. He married Margaret Catherine Nance on Mar 11, 1869. She was born Apr 12, 1848 and died Jan 17, 1910. Datus Frank Lewis was the son of Gatewood Lewis born Dec 23, 1897 died Aug 24, 1878 and Mary Speirs born 1804.
