Near Alfordsville, Robeson County, N.C. on the 1st inst., Mrs. ELIZABETH McGIRT, wife of Duncan McGirt; in the 61st year of her age. She lived a consistent Christian life, as a member of the Ashpole Presbyterian Church. Forty years she as associated with the people of God, in the church on earth, and now it is believed she is experiencing the truth of the blessed promise; "Those that are planted in the house of the Lord, shall flourish in the courts of out God." Planted in the house militant, she not doubt flourishes in the courts triumphant. Few aged Christians have died more respected or more earnestly lamented by surviving friends. ---Com. She is buried in the McGirt Cemetery in Alfordsville and her gravestone is inscribed as follows: "In Memory of Elizabeth, wife of Duncan McGirt, who died April 1, 1858, Aged 61 years."
