His wisdom in counsel, his prudence in action, and his remarkable punctuality in attendance on the ordinance of God’s house and its duties, till failing health deprived him, of this privilege, gave him, no ordinary influence among the people. 1. Resolved therefore, that while we feel and moves our great loSs in his removal from us, and while by this event, we are amonished, that we too must die, and give account of our stewardship, yet we love to cherish his memory, with gratitude to God for the grave bestowed upon him, in health and in sickneSs, for his example and usefulneSs among us and for the hope, that we have good reason to cherish, that he is now at rest with his saviour in the kingdom of glory. 2ndly Resolved that this paper be recorded in our minutes and a copy furnished the family of our deceased friend. ~ Adjourned sinc did closed with prayer James McCallum Clerk Citation: Philadelphus Presbyterian Church, Red Springs, NC - Minutes of Session, 1871, page 13.
