J. P. MEARES Mr. JAMES P. MEARES, aged 51 years, died at his home on rural route No. 5 from Lumberton at 1:30 this morning. The deceased had been confined to bed with pneumonia for three weeks and on Friday he suffered a stroke of paralysis. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. McKay Byrd and Misses Annie and Claudie Meares and five sons, Messrs. Goodman, Wellie, Bascom, Walter and Percy Meares. Mr. Meares was a member of Singletary Cross Roads Baptist Church. The funeral will be conducted from the residence tomorrow morning at 11 o'clock. The service will be conducted by Rev. J. M. Fleming.
