MORRISON.-At Shoe Heel, Robeson Co., N. C., on Friday, Dec. 2nd, James F. Morrison, aged about 18 years. In recording the death of Mr. Morrison, friendship cannot sigh too deeply, nor can eulogy itself paint too glowingly. He was a youth whom to know was to love. His gentle manners, his amiable disposition, and his generous heart endeared him to very many; while his chivalrie nature, his gentlemanly bearing, and his high- foned principles won admiration from all. The author of this inadequate tribute knew Jimmie Morrison well. We were acquainted with him as a boy, and early recognized in him those lofty, noble sentiments which afterward distinguished the man. His career was indeed short, but friendship will long continue to cherish the name of James Morrison, while memory will point to his grave as that of one of Robeson’s most promising sons. His death was sudden; but his friends can confidently hope that his pure soul has winged its flight to the God who gave it birth. Nor a moan escaped him, when informed he must die; but with the courage of innocence he met his fate, and calmly closed his gentle eyes as death flitted before his expiring gaze. His afflicted, relatives carry with them the sympathy of numerous acquaintances, while even the passing stranger will sadly bow when shown the grave of the youthful sleeper in Carolina Cemetery. S.
