Robeson County, NC - Obituary of J.C. Miller Sr., 1950 ~~~~~~~~~~ Winston-Salem Journal, July 2, 1950, Winston Salem, NC (page 12a) J. C. Miller Sr., Produce Dealer John C. Miller, Sr., 76, produce dealer of 1044 North Cherry Street, died at 9:10 p.m. yesterday at a local hospital. He had been in declining health for a year, seriously ill for nine weeks. Mr. Miller was born near Rowland in Robeson County, Sept. 25, 1873, son of Pitman and Lottie Hammons Miller. He made his home in his county until 12 years ago when he moved to Winston-Salem and entered the produce business. He was of the Baptist faith. His wife, Mrs. Ellen Stone Miller, died Oct. 14, 1937. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Sam R. Hawkins, Mrs. Fred W. Talley and Mrs. H. R. Young, all of Winston-Salem; two sons; John C. Miller, Jr., of Lexington and Edward Miller of Winston-Salem; 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Hattie Bullard of Fayetteville, and three brothers, Roy Miller of Fort Bragg, Preston Miller of Statesboro, Ga., and Coon Miller of Rowland. The body will be taken to the home of a daughter, Mrs. Hawkins, 1044 North Cherry Street, at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be conducted there at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Howard Gilley and the Rev.
