ROBESONIAN: JANUARY 9, 1911

Mr. H. W. Pitman, after an illness of about three or four weeks with pneumonia,
died Sunday morning.  Mr. Pitman was 41 years old and leaves a wife and four
children.  He was a member of the East Lumberton Baptist Church, having been
baptized June 12, 1910.

The funeral services were conducted from the residence Monday morning by his
pastor at 9 o'clock, in the presence of a large crowd of loving and sympathetic
friends; and the burial was at his home in Wishart's Township.

The last word is said and human hands can do no more.  Human sympathy can share,
but it cannot still, the pangs of broken and bleeding hearts.  A distinguished
author has said, "Death works no hardship to those whom it calls higher, but
only to those who mourn their loss; even that would be turned into joy if we
could but know how things are in the great Beyond."

Glare, daughter of Stephen & Mary Glare. 
And, Charlotte Israel, daughter of John Israel, son of Lemuel Israel and Olive
Regan, daughter of Richard Regan, a 2nd Lt. in the American Revolutionay War.

Married: Lizzie Phillips, daughter of Agrippa Phillips & Mary Catherine Pittman:
31 July 1898, Robeson, North Carolina.

Children of Henry Washington Pitman & Lizzie Phillips are: Ressa, Riley, Minnie
and Artmisha Pittman.

Burial: Pittman Family Cemetery, Bealuh Church Road, Robeson, North Carolina.
