LEWIS PITMAN IS CALLED TO THE GREAT BEYOND. On February 14, 1928, just after the noon hour, God spoke and said, "It is enough: your mission is filled." My Mother, Mrs. Lewis Pitman fell asleep to awake on the resurrection morn. She had been an invalid for 8 months. She fell and broke her hip and was not able to be up any more. I was to see her just a few days ago. She was not so well, but ate dinner. As she could not feed herself, I fed her. Fifty three years ago she was married to Mr. Lewis Pitman. He died Sept. 3, 1927, leaving her with 5 children: Mrs. George Deaton, St. Pauls, Mrs. L. J. Prevatte, Lumberton; Mrs. Loyd Lytton, Lumberton; Mr. Dudley Pitman, St. Pauls, and Pope Pitman of Timberland. She leaves 4 brothers and two sisters. Jackson Pitman, Maxton, Neal Pitman, Lumberton; Jim Pitman, R. 5, Lumberton: Alford Pitman, Lumberton: Mrs. W. W. Clewis, Lumberton, Mrs. D. A. Taylor, Rockingham. Four brothers and six sisters are dead. There are 18 grandchildren to mourn her loss on earth. Mrs. Pitman was 68 years old just 4 months before she died. The Funeral was conducted at the grave by her pastor, Rev. E. A. Paul or East Lumberton, who read and talked on the resurrected life. All sang "Shall We Gather At The River." Mrs. Pitman looked so beautiful in her casket. There were many pretty flowers, beautiful home cut ones and flora designs from loved ones and friends. I miss her so much. As she was too feeble to get out, but I could not go see her. I feel I should not grieve but thank God He let her go easily and without struggle, for she is not punished any more. I just want to lift my heart and voice heavenward and may God make me submissive at all times to do His Will. Mrs. George Deaton: St. Paul, N.C.
