ROBESONIAN: THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 1933.

A. R. PITTMNA DIES IN EAST LUMBERTON.

Funeral services for Mr. Alfred Rhodes Pittman, 55, of East Lumberton, were
conducted by Rev. E. A. Paul, pastor of East Lumberton Baptist Church Wednesday
at 3 p.m. in the presence of a large gathering of relatives and friends.  Burial
was made in the Hollywood Cemetery, Lumberton.

Pallbearers were nephews, Messrs. J. W. Pittman, Raymond Clewis, Dudley Clewis,
and Roland Pittman of East Lumberton, Jesse Taylor of Rockingham and J. L.
Pittman of Maxton.  The grave was covered with flowers arranged by Mesdames Dave
Stone, Burton Branch, Bert Coleman, Plumie Bryant, Gilbert Higley, W. G. Davis,
C. C. Clewis, Charlie Collins, George Wright, Chester Manning, Archie Norton,
James Brisson, Iredell J. Prevatte, G. W. Deaton, and Miss Emma Pittman.

Mr. Pittman died Monday night of an attaqck of angina pectoris which he suffered
Friday.

Surviving are 4 children, Grady, Wilbur, Flavia and Vashti; a sister Mrs.
Claricy Taylor of Rockingham; half sister, Mrs. Wilkes Williamson; 3 brothers,
Messrs. Neil and Jim of Lumberton and Jackson of Maxton; 3 half brothers,
Messrs, Claude, Jesse and John Pittman of East Lumberton.

ALFRED RHODES PITTMAN: 25 JANUARY 1878 - 06 NOVEMBER 1933.

Son of Jordan Lee Pittman & Mary Jane Israel. Jordan Lee Pittman, son of Mary
Ann Phillips & Rhodes Pittman, son of Sion Pittman & Elizabeth "Betsy" Glare,
daughter of Stephen & Mary Glare.
Mary Jane Israel, daughter of Molcy Hester & John Israel, son of Lemuel Israel &
Olive Regan, son of Richard Regan, a 2nd Lt. in the American Revolutionay War,
son of Joseph Regan, Jr., son of Joseph Regan, son of Daniel Regan, born in
Ireland.

Alfred Rhodes Pittman was the Researchers Great Grandmother's brother (Claricy
Jane Pittman).  My Aunt Maude and Mother Esther knew him well and especially
daughter Flavia Pittman Humphreys, who died in Newport News, Virginia.  His
first cousin, my Grandmother Maggie Taylor, daughter of David Alexander Taylor &
Claricy Jane Pittman, left many family photo's of Alfred and his family.

Alfred adored his mother: Mary Jane Israel.
