The funeral was conducted today at 10 a.m. by Rev. Rn. N. Cashwell and interment was made in the family cemetery near Antioch church. Deceased is survived by seven children. Born Mary “Polly” Ann Pittman, daughter of Nancy Britt and Sampson Pitman, son of Sion Pitman and Elizabeth “Betsy” Glare, daughter of Stephen and Mary Glare. Married John Pickney Taylor, son of Lemuel Taylor and Elizabeth Phillips, daughter of Jordan Phillips and Hester Lee. John Taylor died at Front Royal, Virginia Confederate Hospital of disease on 04 Nov 1863. He was in NC Troops, 46th Regiment, Company A. Polly Pittman raised their nine children on her own and never remarried. Children:Zachariah, James R., Frank, David Alexander, Amanda, Samuel Bethel, Sallie, Lydia Lucinda, Malinda and Mary Janette Taylor.
