Robesonian, 27 May 1946
C. L. Pittman, 82, died Sunday at 8:45 at the home of his son in law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Taylor on the Elizabethtown Highway about 9 miles
from Lumberton.  Funeral services were held today at 3 p. m. at the graveside in
the family cemetery in Wishart's township, with Rev. E. A. Paul in charge.

Surviving are his wife George Ann Pittman; 4 daughters, Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. Joe
Phillips and Mrs Elias Phillips of Lumberton, R, 5, and Mrs. Cobe Willoughby of
Bladenboro; one son, Gregory Pittman, and a grandson, Bradley Pittman, whom he
reared , both of the Burnt Island section; his stepmother,  Mrs. Bettie Pittman,
a half sister; Mrs. W. W. Williamson, and 2 half brothers, Jesse and Claude
Pittman, all of East Lumberton; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Born: 14 Aug 1863 in the Burnt Islands, Robeson,  North Carolina the son of
Jordan Lee Pittman & Mary Jane Israel.

Brothers: David Miles, James Bethel, John Lemuel, Jackson Lee and Alfred Rhodes
Pittman.

Sisters: Emmaline, Mosley Ann, Susan, Claricy Jane, Sarah Elizabeth and Mary Lee
Pittman.
