MRS. CALLIE POWERS IS LAID TO REST Mrs. Callie Townsend Powers, 79, wife of the late W.J. Powers, of the Powersville section, Lumberton, R.1, was laid to rest Wednesday afternoon in the Barker’s Methodist church cemetery, following services conducted that afternoon at 3 o’clock from Ten Mile Baptist church, of which she was a member. Her pastor, Rev. B.M. Glisson, was in charge of the rites, assisted by Rev. George H. Wallace of Lumberton. Mrs. Powers died Monday at her home, after several weeks’ illness. Mrs. M.F. Townsend of Lumberton sang “No Night There,” and “When They Ring The Golden Bells,” with Mrs. W. Earl Robinson of St. Pauls playing accompaniment. Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Colin J. Ammons, assisted by Mmes. J.C. Albright, Douglas Britt, L.B. Powers, Jr., Charles King, Glenn Toon, Lawrence Nelson, Tony Malinski, Ertel Powers, W.D. Wellington, Lawrence Musselwhite, Joyce Britt, and Betty Lou Musselwhite. Pallbearers were: Active – Ertel Powers, L.B. Powers, Jr., Glenn Toon, Lawrence Musselwhite, William Powers, Charles King; honorary – J.S. Jones, D.P. Patterson, M.M. Jones, Joseph Russ, Neil Barker, N.A. Townsend, Robert Byrd, Grady Townsend, Dr. M.F. Townsend, Dr. J.N. Britt, LeRoy Townsend and C.M. Barker. Surviving are 4 daughters and 3 sons; 26 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers and one sister.
