Friday Jack Powers Funeral services for (Horace W.) Jack Powers, age 29, who died in an accident Thursday morning, when crushed under a paving machine, will be held Friday afternoon at 4:00 o’clock, at Barker Methodist Church. Rev. Harris will conduct the services. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Janie Guyton before their marriage three months ago; His mother, Mrs. Jessie L. Powers of 503 10th Street; 4 sisters, Mrs. A.B. Johnson Jr. of Mt. Holly, Mrs. Ray McNeill of Red Springs, Mrs. J.E. Davis of Fayetteville, and Geraldine Powers of the home; 3 brothers, Lacy Powers of Lumberton, Fred L. Powers, of Asheville, and Gene Powers of the home. He was a veteran of World War II, having served 4 years with the U.S. Army. Active pallbearers will be: Gene Taylor, Muriel Atkinson, Hicks Bailey, Fred Martin, Junior Martin and Glen Kinlaw. Honorary pallbearers will be: Arthur W. Riddle, R.F. Leggett, Rembert Morgan, Buck Powers, and J.P. Inman.
