All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sam West sam.west.1@gmail.com June 4, 2013, 1:58 pm Fayetteville Observer TRIBUTE OF RESPECT for SAMPSON SEALEY The committee appointed to prepare suitable resolutions expressive of the emotions of deep regret which St. Alban’s Lodge has felt and acknowledged upon hearing of the very sudden and mysterious death of our worthy and lamented brother, SAMPSON SEALEY, which took place at his own residence in Robeson County, on the 12th day of December, A. L. 5860 – make the following report viz: Whereas, another sad, solemn and awe-awakening appeal from the Spirit-land has been received by us in having heard of the very sudden and mysterious death of our excellent, esteemed and lamented brother, Sampson Sealey, therefore: Resolved, That while we humbly submit to the wise and mysterious gevents of an omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent God, “Whose ways are not as our ways,” whose all-seeing-eye is ever upon us, and reminding us of the uncertainty of life, and the all important theme of being “also ready!” Yet we fully realize the loss of our noble, generous and excellent brother; and that St. Alban’s Lodge has lost one of its devoted and efficient members, a cause in which he delighted and labored faithfully and with zea for the last nine years of his virtuous and useful life. Resolved, That we tender our heart-felt sympathy and condolence with the relatives and friends of our deceased brother, in this sad bereavement. Resolved, That in token of respect for our well beloved brother we wear the usual badge of mourning for thirty days. Resolved, That a page of our records be inscribed with the date of the death of our lamented brother, Sampson Sealey, and that the same be preserved inviolate from the other proceedings as a testimonial of our respect for his memory. Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be entered on the minutes of the Lodge, and that the Secretary send a copy to the bereaved family of our deceased brother and that the same be published in the Fayetteville papers.
