M. Smith of Allenton Mr. Jno M. Smith died of pellagra Friday morning at her home near Allenton. She had been sick with this disease for some time. Deceased was about 45 years old. Her husband and several children survive. She was a daughter of Mr. J. F. Mears. The Mary and Cammie, attended the funeral took place Saturday morning at 10 o’clock and the remains were interred near the home. Source: Robesonian 12/15/1913 Mrs. Jno. M. Smith of Allenton a Victim of Pellagra. Some slight inaccuracies occurred in the account given in The Robesonian of the death at her home near Allenton on the 12th inst. Of Mrs. Jno. M. Smith. Mrs. Smith died of pellagra, of which disease she had suffered for some time. The funeral took place at 2 p. m. on the 13th from Antioch Baptist church, of which deceased was a member, and the remains were interred in the Belch graveyard near the church. Mrs. Smith was born in 1873 and had been a member of the Baptist church for 27 years. She is survived by her husband and four children – Viola, Alexander, Iredell and Wallace – the oldest 16 and the youngest 2 years old.
