Laurinburg, March 4. Mrs. Malinda Britt, 66, widow of Mr. Evans Britt, died in Laurinburg on the night of Feb. 21. She was reared near Lumberton and raised a family of 6 children in and around there. After the death of her husband she made her home with her children here. She was a member of the Holiness church and was a loyal Christian. She suffered dreadful pain with cancer but bore it with patience and never complained. The funeral was conducted by her pastor, Rev. G. L. Guy of St. Pauls, and interment was made in the Meadowbrook Cemetery, Lumberton, beside her husband. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. W. H. Newton, Mrs. Robert Cashwell adn Mrs. P.S. Clare, and 3 sons, aMessrs. Joel, David and Luther Britt. Additional Comments: NOTE: TERRY JOHNSON: TAYLOR/BRITT FAMILY DESCENDENT & RESEARCHER: 21 NOVEMEBER 2008. MALINDA TAYLOR: 01 Sep 1860 - 21 Feb 1931. Daughter of Mary "Polly" Ann Pittman, daughter of Nancy Britt & Sampson Pittman, son of Sion Pittman & Elizabeth Betsy Glare, daughter of Stephen & Mary Glare. And, John "Jack" Taylor, a Confederate Soldier with the Lumberton Guards, Company A, 46th Regiment, North Carolina Troops, son of Elizabeth Phillips, daughter of Jordan Phillips & Hester Lee, And, Lemuel Taylor, son of Henry Taylor. MARRIED: 22 MAY 1882: EVAN V. BRITT: Son of Joel Britt & Sallie Wilford. Children of Malinda Taylor & Evan V. Britt are: Delia, David, Mary Ann, Luther C., Martha and Joel Britt. Burial: 23 Feb 1931: Meadowbrook Cemetery, Lumberton, North Carolina.
