The Supreme Architect of the Universe has summoned, from this transitory existence to the eter- nal home above, one of our old- est and most worthy brethren; therefore, we the members of St. Albans Lodge No. 114 A. F. & A. M., desire to place on record the following resolutions of re- spect: Brother Neill Townsend was born December 13, 1838, served his country faithfully and well during the civil war, and was ever a good, exemplary citizen, devoted to his church and Sun- day school, a model husband and father, a promotor of every movement having for its object the elevation of his community and county. Whereas, Brother Townsend fell sleep on August 25th, 1904, thus severing ties, which we trust will be united in the Para- dise of God; therefore, be it Resolved, 1. While we deplore his departure from our midst, we know that “our loss is his gain”, for “him that honoreth me, will the Father honor.” Resolved, 2. We extend to the bereaved family our sincere sym- pathy, poiuring to the Great Physician, who alone can be their guide and comforter. Resolved, 3. We commend his life as an example worthy of emulation, for he has left the priceless legacy of a well-spent life, full of good deeds and words. Resolved, 4. That a page of our records be inscribed to his memory; that our charter be draped and our members wear the usual badge of mourning. Resolved. 5. That a copy of these resolutions be spread upon the records of the lodge, a copy be sent to the bereaved family, also to the Orphan’ Friend, Argus and Robesonian for public- cation.
