Townsend The remains of Roscoe W. Townsend, 16, who was drowned from cramp while swimming at Bullard’s pond, near Vander Monday about 12:30 p.m. were brought to St. Pauls, his former home, for burial in Oak Ridge cemetery beside the graves of his parents, Frank Townsend and Mrs. Mamie Carter Townsend. He lived with his grandmother, Mrs. Daniel Carter, near Vander. He leaves a brother, D.V., and sister, Beulah Townsend of Fayetteville, a half-sister, Mrs. John Powers of Lumberton; 4 half-brothers – Sherwood Townsend of Washington, D.C., Claude Douglas and Bruce of Fayetteville and Lumberton.
