ROBESON COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - William Walters, 8 Apr 1919 ----¤¤¤¤---- William Walters of Barnesville Section Mr. William Walters, a well-known citizen of the Barnesville section, died Tuesday at 2:45 pm, following an illness of several weeks. Deceased was 78 years old and served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He is survived by his wife and nine children. The funeral was conducted yesterday at 3 pm by Rev I. P. Hedgpeth of Lumberton. Mr Walters was a loyal member of Big Branch Baptist Church and was one of the leading citizens of his community. He will be missed. From the Contributor: William Walters was born March 19, 1842 in Robeson County and died April 8, 1919. On October 11, 1869 he married Elgenora Penelope (Nellie) Rhodes. William was the son of John Walters Sr and Lucy Nance Walters.
