ROBESON COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - James Burke Walters, 21 Jun 1948 ----¤¤¤¤---- Last Rites Held for J.B. Walters Funeral services were held for James Burke Walters, 81, who died Tuesday at his residence in Odum after an extended illness. The funeral was Wednesday at 10 a.m., at the Odum Methodist Church by the pastor, Rev. E. A. Matin, assisted by Rev. James Bacon. Burial was in Odum Cemetery with Rinehart Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Walters is survived by his wife, Mrs. Leila Vickery Walters; four daughters, Mrs. Willis Futch, Columbia, S.C. Mrs. L.C. Abbott, Atlanta, Mrs. L. C. Smith, Jacksonville, and Mrs. M.H. Mosley, Fort Lauderdale, Fl; two sons, A.A. Walters, Odum and J.B. Walters, Jr, Jacksonville; two brothers, J.C. Walters, Plant City, Fla. and B. Walters, Meigs; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers were T.H. Glover, J.E. Withrow, J.H. O'Quinn, C. Moody, Joe Martin and Eugene Hires. Note from the contributor: James Burke Walters was born Nov 15, 1867 Robeson County, NC and died June 21, 1948 in Odum, Ga. He was first married to Alexandria Rollen Jones and second to Leila Athens Vickery.
