Robeson County, NC - Obituary of Tommie Walters, 1948 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rites Sunday For Tommie Walters Fairmont --- Funeral services for Tommie Walters, 39, who died about midnight Friday at Thompson hospital in Lumberton were held from his home near Barnesville Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Officiating at the rights were Rev. Woodrow Williamson of Boardman. Interment was in the Walters Cemetery near the home. Mr. Walters suffered a heart attack at his home and was carried to the Lumberton hospital by ambulance on the day before his death. Several months ago he had been sticken with an attack. He was the son of Mrs. Mae Walters Stone and the late Oliver B. Walters of the Barnesville section. Surviving besides his mother, are his wife, Mrs. Dovie Lawson Walters; three sons, William Tommie, Corbett, and Lyndell, all of the home; two brothers, Forest and Edwin Walters of Barnesville and one sister Mrs. Mayo Bass of Lake View, S.C. Another brother, Oliver Walters lost his life in Italy during World War II. From the Contributor: Tommie Blake Walters was born Nov 28, 1910 and died Sep 4, 1948.
