Robeson County, NC - Obituary of Irvin Walters, 1939 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Irvin Walters Rites Funeral services for Irvin Walters, 84, were held Sunday afternoon at the graveside in the family cemetery near the home southwest of Fairmont. Rev. Carey P. Herring, pastor of the First Baptist Church of which he was a member, officiated. Mr. Walters had been sick about 3 weeks. He was married 54 years ago to Mrs. Caroline Grimsley of Fairmont, she and the following children survive: Frank Walters of Longwood. Mrs. John Flowers of Orrum, Mrs. Bessie Walters of Fairmont, Mrs Ila Purvis of Lake Dale; 2 step-sons, Louis Grimsley of Fairmont and Will Grimsley of Dillon, S.C.; 25 grandchildren and a brother Richard Walters of Fairmont. From the Contributor: Irvin Walters was born May 1855 and died Aug 12, 1939. He was the son of Thomas Walters and Rhoda Lewis. He married Susan Caroline Grimsley in 1883. Susna Caroline Grimsley was born Nov 1860 and died May 19, 1937.
