Robeson County, NC - Obituary of Tom Walters, 1957 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tom Walters Fairmont -- Tom Walters, 73, farmer of Orrum, Rt. 1, died at his home Tuesday night at 9 o'clock after a year and a half of declining health. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock at Bethesda Methodist church, Barnesville, of which he was a member. Officiating at the services will be Rev. Grady L. Kinley, assisted by Rev. Ben Boone. Burial will be in the family cemetery. The body will remain at the Prevatte Funeral home in Fairmont until Thursday at 3 o'clock when it will be carried to the church an hour before the rites. Mr. Walters was born in Robeson County, a son of John Walters and Mrs. Eveline Barfield Walters. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Zelma Drew Walters; one son, Norman Walters of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Britt of Lumberton, Rt. 5. and Mrs. Lucille Gibson of Orrum, Rt. 1. He was the son of John Dawson Walters born Jan 19, 1848 and died Jan 8, 1932 and Eveline Jane Barfield born Mar 13, 1854 and died Feb 29, 1937. He married Dorcas Zelma Drew on Dec 3, 1923.
