Robeson County, NC - Obituary of J.K. Walters, 1941 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Farmer Shoots Self In Head J.K. Walters Takes Own Life At Alfordsville Home Near Maxton J.K. Walters, 48 year old farmer of Alfordsville township, took his own life early yesterday afternoon, firing a .22 rifle bullet through the left temple while lying in bed at his home. Sheriff Clyde Wade said that Walters folded a quilt under his head and braced the gun on the floor before firing the shot, in announcing the death a suicide. Walters, father of three children and residing on a farm between Maxton and Rowland, had been in high spirits all day according to members of his family and they could advance no reason for the act. His is survived by his wife, three children, Edward, Misses Irene and Verna Walters; and six brothers, Ellie Walters, well-know flyer, Ezra, Homer, Henry, Dave and Rufus Walters. From the contributor: Jeston K. Walters was born Jul 9, 1889 and died Apr 9, 1941. He was the son of Joseph B. Walters and Rebecca Ann Shepherd. He was married to Agnes Mae Bond, she was born Jun 23, 1895 and died Sep 3, 1974.
