Robeson County, NC - Obituary of Daniel Wilkinson, 1917 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Maxton, Scottish Chief, January 26, 1917 Mr. Daniel Wilkinson, who was taken to Westbrook Sanatorium near Richmond Va., Tuesday died at about 12:30 today from nephrites. Thus another prominent citizen of this section has been taken, a good farmer who lived about four and a half miles north of Maxton over Lumber River. He was an excellent Christian citizen, having been an elder in Centre Presbyterian Church for many years. He was about 59 years of age, a practical, kind- hearted gentleman who exerted a splendid influence in his community. He was a son of the late Sandy and Effie Wilkinson, and is survived by his wife (Pattie O’Brien) and two children, Effie and Alex, and one brother, D. C Wilkinson and three sisters, Lizzie, Sallie, and Maggie, who resided with the deceased. The remains will arrive on the Seaboard tomorrow morning and be taken to his home. The burial will probably take place at the family cemetery tomorrow evening at 3 o’clock. A good man has been called home and we sorrow with his bereaved loved ones. *Note Pattie was a nickname for Martha Jane O’Brien Wilkinson ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
