[Deeds were always either "acknowledged in open court" or "proved by 
oath of...." and then ordered to be registered; to eliminate redundancy, 
these have been abstracted simply as "acknowledged" or "proved 
by...."]

James Campbell bound apprentice to James McNeill now being eight 
year[s] old untill he arrive to the age of twenty one

Ordered that James Smith be overseer of the Great swamp from the 
county road to the mouth of the little swamp and to work all the hands 
within three miles of said swamp within said district and that Benjamin 
Freeman Senr be overseer from the little swamp to the mouth of 
Peters swamp and all hands within three miles to work under him and 
Jesse Phillips be overseer from Peters swamp to Drowning Creek and 
hands within three miles work under him

Court adjourned untill tomorrow nine oclock

Wednesday April 3rd 1798 [previous day's court was Tuesday but also 
dated April 3rd]

Court met according to adjournment

Present the worshipful Joshua Pharoah George Moore John Fort & 
David Torry Esquires

Ordered that Duncan McFarland have the priviledge of opening a 
publick road from his bridge on Drowning Creek to Mr? (Mc?) Lindseys 
bridge on the raft swamp

Ordered that there issue a citation to Neill Brown former entry taker to 
bring to next court a bond on a certain caveat wherein Levi Glass was 
plaintiff and August Gilchrist defendant

Ordered that the sheriff summon John Fort Nevan McBride & Daniel 
Molloy as a Jury of Vei? for John Corneill and Phillip Blount Jacob 
Blount and Robert Upton for Robert Sims and Angus Gilchrist as 
surveyor

Ordered that the sheriff summon the following gentlemen to attend as 
Jurors at the next Superior Court to be held for the district of 
Fayetteville / to wit / Nevan McBride Archibald McNeill Ralph Regan 
John C. Noyes & James McNeill

Ordered that William Traywick be overseer of the road in room of Sion 
Alford

Joseph Regan appointed guardian to Richard Regan in room of 
Samuel Regan who entered into bond in the sum of twelve hundred 
pounds with John Regan and Joseph Wood his securities

Ordered that James Fort pay to Catherine Moore seven pounds a year 
for seven years for a base born child begotten by him on the body of 
said Catherine to commence form the birth of said child

Ordered that Albritain Drake Ithamer Gaddy and Joab Willis be 
patroles in Captain Drakes District

Ordered that John Barnes be patrole in Captain Moores District

Ordered that the sheriff summon a Jury to lay of[f] a road from the 
Bear Spring on Jacob Swamp to George Grimsleys

Ordered that sheriff summon the following gentlemen to attend as 
Jurors at the next court to be held for this county / to wit / Neill Murphey 
Senr Ralph Barlow John McMillan Junr Jacob Blount John Baggett 
John Matthews Alexr McGeachey John McMillan Senr Silas Drake
