oath of...." and then ordered to be registered; to eliminate redundancy, 
these have been abstracted simply as "acknowledged" or "proved 
by...."]

At a County Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions began & held for the 
County of Robeson on Monday the second day of July and twenty 
second year of American Independence AD 1798

Present the worshipful Elias Barnes William Hawthorn & George 
Moore Esquires

The sheriff returned the Venire Facias from which the court selected 
the following gentlemen to attend as Grand Jurors during this term / to 
wit / John Hawthorn Foreman Jacob Blount Neill Murphey John 
McMillan Silas Drake Alexr McGeachey Duncan McEacharn Malcom 
McMillan George Thenor Neill McAlpin William Adkinson William 
Sterling George Grimsley and Samuel Biggs constable sworn to attend 
them

William Sterling appointed constable who entered into bond with John 
Flowers and Stephus? Sterling his securities

Ordered that Benjamin Willis[']s negro be exempt from working on 
publick roads in order to keep up a bridge across the Gall Berry

Ordered that Randol Curry Angus Gilchrist & Dugald McLaughlan be 
patroles in Captain Randol Currys district

Ordered that the road from the Bear Spring and Jacobs Swamp to 
George Grimsleys be discontinued

Ordered that Neill Brown Esquire review the list of taxable property in 
Captain Campbells district for the year 1798

William McVicar? apppointed guardian to Catherine Gillies who 
entered into bond in the sum of one hundred pounds with Angus 
Gilchrist for his guardianship
