Whereas the former commissioners of the public buildings for this 
county were noticed to appear at this court to show in what manner 
they had applied the publick money & whether any ^ what ballance 
remained in their hands Elias Barnes & John Willis Esquires the only 
two remaining commissioners in the county came into court & rendered 
an account on oath that they had no publick money in their hands 
received as aforesaid but as the court house was not quite finished 
seven narrow boards having been since put on the same by Mr

Dow which he says on oath he thinks is worth one dollar the said John 
Willis has paid the same in court is acquited accordingly

Mary Hammon bound apprentice to Thomas Jackson untill she arrive 
to the age of eighteen years old now being ten

Ordered that Malcom McInnis Senr be exempt from the payment of a 
poll tax for the year 1797

Ordered that Samuel Smith be overseer of the road in room of James 
Bullard

Ordered that Michael Herring be overseer of the road in room of 
William Sterling

James Alford apppointed constable in Captain Alfords who entered into 
bond with Sion Alford his security

James Braswell appointed guardian to Sophia Peacock who entered 
into bond in the sum of fifty pounds with Josiah Barnes his security

John Little appointed constable in Captain Newberrys who entered into 
bond with Jordon Phillips his security

Ordered that Angus Patterson be overseer of the road in room of 
Andrew Puff

Ordered that Thomas Barnes Joseph Wood & John Regan Esquires 
settle with the Exr of Ralph Regan Deceased and also settle the 
accounts of Samuel Regan guardian to Richard Regan

Ordered that Angus Curry be overseer of the road in room of Daniel 
Johnston

Court adjourned untill tomorrow ten o'clock
