oath of...." and then ordered to be registered; to eliminate redundancy, 
these have been abstracted simply as "acknowledged" or "proved 
by...."]

At a county court of pleas and Quarter sessions begun and held for the 
county of Robeson on Monday the first day of October & twenty third 
year of American Independence AD 1798

Present the worshipful Joseph Wood John Regan & John Fort 
Esquires

The sheriff returned the Venire Facias from which the court selected 
the following gentlemen to attend as Grand Jurors during the term / to 
wit / Nathaniel Nicoles foreman John Strong Silas Adkins Ralph Regan 
George Goodwin John Clibourn Philip Blount Jacob Blount William 
Thompson Neill McMillan Malcom Thompson Nathan Braswell Robert 
Upton & Samuel Biggs constable sworn to attend them

On application John Fivash mark admited to be an under square in the 
right ear & swallow fork in the left

Ordered that John Regan Execr of the estate of Richard Thomas 
deceased sell the perishable property of said [deceased] and also 
ordered that Joseph Wood Joseph Regan & Thomas Barnes Esquire 
divide said estate agreeable to the will of said deceased

Ordered that the sheriff summon the following gentlemen to attend as 
jurors at the next Superior Court to be held for the district of 
Fayetteville / to wit / James Smith George Moore John Blount John 
Fort & Thomas Barnes
